Described as a "coffee gallery" by the owners, The Fix Cafe features colorful walls covered with the work of local artists, adding a touch of uniqueness to an already interesting spot. Fluffy couches and spotless tables litter the wood floor, inviting customers to have a seat and stay awhile.
With a down-to-earth ambience–partly encouraged by the below-ground location–this venue encourages both creativity and concentration. Plenty of reading materials (a magazine rack and a "take a book, leave a book" bookshelf) are provided, along with free w-fi, making for a perfect study location. Mellow music, sounding like a hip iPod on shuffle, pours from the speakers.
The extensive coffee selection is delivered straight from Peru by one of the owner's fathers and there is also a vast selection of tea (including a spicy yet tasty chai) and numerous other beverages available. The shake menu, including the popular, but enigmatically named, Chocolate Banana Big Train, is also fairly elaborate and priced relatively low.
This location is extremely eco-friendly, providing recycle bins for paper and glass, and serving all drinks in "ecotainers" (compostable cups). The food selection is relatively small–brownies, pies, tarts, and Bundt cakes–but it is, after all, a coffee shop. Anyone looking for a quick cup of coffee or a quiet location for studying need look no further.
