At Ginger Asian Bistro the seasons take center stage. The fluid space is separated by seasonal color schemes, from a warm buttery orange walls for fall to turquoise and abstract, floral paintings for summer. The rotating menu is also subject to seasonal change, with spot-on Asian flavors bouncing from Korea to Japan and beyond.
For appetizers, the Asian chicken egg rolls, served with a side of edamame "guacamole," are light, crispy and savory, and the Korean-style chicken wings offer a lingering, addictive heat. Expect inventive favorites, like the coffee-braised Japanese-spiced baby back ribs that boast all of the bold flavor and none of the usual bitterness of a cup of joe; or try the light tempura chicken breast served with tangy, charred pineapple and lychee. While these dishes would taste just as good served straight from a burlap sack, artful plating and generous portions enhance the experience.
Though the wine menu is nothing to sneeze at, the martini list is almost impossible to bypass. The signature ginger martini meets stiff competition in the raspberry truffle and key lime pie. By the time dessert rolls around, you're likely to feel full, but don't let that stop you from ordering anyway. The cookie-dough egg rolls are pillowy pockets of warm dough served with berry, dark and white chocolate sauce, and the graham cracker-crusted green tea cheesecake is a lesson in understated decadence, served with a tiny cup of green tea ice. Dinner entrees range from $16-$23, with appetizers, soups, salads and desserts ranging $6-$11.
Average cost: $21-$30
