While the name iCream may bring to mind Avon products or B-rated porn, this Wicker Park ice cream parlor is a dreamsicle come true.
You won't find soft-serve machines whirring or 30-gallon buckets that have been sitting in the freezer for weeks in this Willy Wonka-esque ice creamery. Instead, they use a techno-savvy freezing process using liquid nitrogen that, in addition to being incredibly fast, will also probably make you have a nerdgasm.
How does it work? You choose a combination from one of iCream's five liquid bases, four sweeteners, 30 flavors and 30 toppings, then they whip it up and freeze your creation on the spot. You can even choose from one of eight different colors, which comes in handy when you are trying to win science fairs or impress your date.
Flavors range from your standards (berries, pistachio, coffee) to the less common (burnt sugar, chai, Irish crème). The different sweeteners allow you to make your creation as calorie-conscious or sugar-saturated as you desire. Milk can be regular, soy or organic and all of their milk options are hormone free.
Other non-ice-cream choices, if you’re not interested in chilling your dairy-air, include Italian sodas, smoothies made with Naked juice, shakes, hot pudding, sorbet and coffee drinks made from a Chicago-based roaster. All items are between $3 and $5.50, making sure I cream, you cream, we all cream for iCream.
