Juicy-O looks like your typical breakfast hot spot. It's a down-home diner with a friendly staff, a pancake- and egg-laden menu and fresh, complimentary doughnuts. But as the name implies, this eatery places a premium on its wide array of fresh juices. The playfully written menu even calls them "our pride and joy."
Owners of the Cajun-inspired Heaven on Seven restaurants opened Juicy-O in 2006. Located in a strip mall just north of busy Butterfield Road, this diner could easily get lost in the fray. The customer-of-the-month photos near the entrance let you know this place prides itself on diner satisfaction—and amusement. From wall to wall, the eatery is filled with framed sayings like "Boss spelled backward is double SOB" and "I try not to have coffee in the morning. It keeps me up all day."
But back to the juice. From Michigan apple juice and fresh lemonade to pomegranate juice and the eye-opener (spicy tomato), Juicy-O has many fruity liquids to choose from. And if you can't decide, try the Juicy-O flight, which offers a taste of the four most popular flavors for $3.
The bubble tea is another beverage that really sets this place apart. The name may be a little deceiving–it's nothing like tea and has no bubbles. It's more like a fruit smoothie that comes in flavors like dreamy creamy orange and triple berry. And while you may think they've added some blueberries to flavor it up, you'll be surprised when you suck one through the wide straw. The round balls are actually tasteless tapioca pearls with the consistency of a gummy bear. It's really weird, but worth trying.
The breakfast menu covers a lot of territory with large fluffy omelettes, crepes, fruit bowls and many pancake and French toast concoctions. Juicy-O also has a full lunch menu with paninis, wraps, burgers and daily blue plate specials for $8.95.
