La Donna, a two-story Italian restaurant in Andersonville, has been drawing a crowd for more than a decade with its seasonal menu of stand-out pastas and desserts. Served in a tasteful yet unpretentious setting, the maroon- and cream-colored dining room can feel a bit crowded when dinner is in full swing (the tables are close together in true Italian style), but additional seating upstairs means you won't have to wait too long to snag a seat.
The menu boasts several seafood and veal dishes and a mouthwatering selection of risotto, made with traditional arborio rice. Risotto Fantasia, with chicken, red apples, sugar and brandy ($16.95) runs neck-and-neck for favorite with Risotto Della Donna, made with butternut squash, goat cheese and sage ($15.95).
The fresh pasta ($12.95-$18.95) is made in-house and served with your choice of sauce, though the menu is heavily annotated with recommended pairings. The ravioli options are particularly plentiful, with fillings like beef, spinach, artichoke, pumpkin, lobster and mozzarella. After one bite of the perfectly al dente ravioli, stuffed with sweet creamy pumpkin and served with a sharp balsamic cream reduction, it'll be clear why ravioli ripieni di zucca con grassa is one of the most popular dishes on the menu.
Those looking for a deal should skip the weekend dinner crowd and hit up La Donna on a Tuesday or Wednesday, when you can order an appetizer or salad, any entree and a small dessert for just $19.95 a person. Brunch is offered Saturdays and Sundays, with crepes and eggs taking center stage.
Average cost: $10-$20
