Editorial Review of Nacional 27

Nacional 27 is the place to go if you have a taste for some Latin flavor; after all, its menu combines flavors from 27 different countries in Central and South America as well as the Latin Caribbean. Its new Latin menu features bold dishes like Ahi tuna and watermelon ceviche, pumpkin and goat cheese croquettes, truffle-crusted filet mignon and a variety of other tapas, steak and seafood.

In addition to bold dishes, the restaurant is known for its bold moves. Every Friday and Saturday night, crowds gather to sip on wine, mojitos and exotic cocktails. From 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. (3 a.m. Saturday nights) the restaurant is transformed into a nightclub and the crowd gathers on the dance floor to salsa, cha cha and meringue to Latin beats. If you have two left feet, just watch; the dance floor is located in the middle of the spacious dining room so every table has a view of the fun.

The entertainment isn't limited to the weekend. Chase away the Monday blues with a Late Latin lunch: A selection of appetizers, entrees, dessert and two drinks are available for around $30 a person. Live Latin Jazz & Tapas Tuesdays will have you swinging to the sultry South American sounds of the Dave Hiltebrand Trio while dining on a special tapas tasting (about $9 per person). Make hump day easier with Wine Down Wednesdays, a five-course tasting menu for $44; five courses of wine are also available for an additional $24. Latin Beat Thursdays means live drumming from South American percussionist Geraldo Oliveira, who mixes it up with DJ Sergio's Latin house music.
