Editorial Review of Nan's Chinese & Sushi Bar

Tired of Panda Express? For an affordable, relaxed dining experience, try Nan's in Lincoln Park. Great for couples or a group of friends, Nan's offers an endless assortment of Asian eats to please anyone's taste buds.

As you enter Nan's, you're greeted by a large, tranquil bamboo display. Tables for four, fitted with crisp white tablecloths and rich wooden chairs, fill the room, leading up to the sushi bar in the back. The space is bathed in warm earth tones, which create a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. There's also a wonderful combination of natural light and soft, interior lighting. It's never too crowded, nor does it feel like a library, and the wait staff is extremely quick and friendly. As far as the menu goes, it's traditional Japanese and Chinese cuisine, featuring more than 20 different chef's specialty sushi rolls, which range from $6.95-$15.95. Pieces of sushi go for two to three bucks. Soup, fried rice, egg foo young and entrees come in small and large sizes. Come hungry because the big dishes can feed three or four, and you don't have to worry about spending too much. Most dishes cost $6-$12 and there are a handful of vegetarian choices, too. The crab rangoon is particularly appetizing and a great way to start your meal.

Nan's is BYOB and, as a nice touch, you're given a bucket of ice to chill your wine or other beverage of choice, and there's no corking fee.
