Papa Ray's is location number two for the sibling team behind Portage Park's
Pinocchio's Pizza and Wings. Their upscale style of cravable comfort meals translates nicely to the ever-gentrifying
Logan Square scene.
The space itself is small, and probably more ideally suited to takeout or delivery. A row of stools lines the wall at a narrow counter, and hometown pride is on display via a good deal of Chicago-centric posters showcasing some of our more storied hot spots.
The food is of that undeniably desirable, universally loved, something-for-everyone variety. From pizza to wings to salads to ribs, Papa Ray's offers its own take on that classic "we serve it all" pizza place. The pies themselves, the obvious menu flagship, are served on a flaky, yellow butter crust. Upscale and somewhat unexpected ingredients mix well here, with a basil florentine, marinated artichoke, or seasoned beef matching one another nicely.
For now, Papa Ray's isn't serving alcohol, but the excellent selection just down the street at Quencher's Saloon makes Ray's a perfect spot for a few bites before or after a few brews.
