Named after an archaeological site and the most visited tourist attraction in Jordan, this Lincoln Square restaurant serves authentic Middle Eastern dishes like hummus, shawarma and kebabs.
The space has some big shoes to fill, as the historical site itself was recently chosen as one of the new seven wonders of the world. So far, it's doing a decent job with its namesake Petra dish – a juicy chicken, split open and slathered with a variety of spices, including garlic and paprika.
Vegetarians should try the savory garlic-and-veggie-stuffed eggplant (tomatoes; onions; green peppers) with a hearty side of baba ganoush.
