It's a good thing Northwest side meat-loving joint Plush Pup is tied to a strip mall – if the owners decide to expand their menu, it may need to invade the sign space of the nearby 7-11. There's an entree for every type of person (except for vegetarians who dislike grilled cheese sandwiches) at this cafeteria-style restaurant, spanning from teriyaki chicken to breaded fish, BBQ ribs to Maxwell Street Polish - there's really nothing this place can't pull off, except tofu.

The titular entree, the "plush dog," is perhaps not as ostentatiously magnificent as its name might imply, but it's solid. The sleeper pick of its enlarged menu may be an old American high school classic – the sloppy joe, served with the maximum amount of sloppy awesomeness. The joint specifically recommends its "Greek specials," like its rotisserie chicken, served with coleslaw, garlic bread and a rice pilaf for $8.85; or its gyros plate, which includes a mound of extra gyro meat and a ton of fries for $8.50. Wash it down with a Mr. Pibb or a root beer float, but save room for dessert (as in, another sandwich, perhaps a New York Steak).

Once you sit down, you may find yourself grooving to the smooth jazz piping in on the radio. It's like having dinner inside the Weather Channel. Between the Kenny G-esque music and the old posters on the wall (including a No. 45 Michael Jordan picture exclaiming "He's back!"), Plush Pup is a tad peculiar, but certainly not uninteresting.
