Jungle roars, cold steam and an oversized plastic frog greet you as you enter downtown Chicago's latest eyesore, a sibling to the
Woodfield Mall theme restaurant of the same name. Waits can be up to an hour, but you can pass the time in the Rainforest's adjacent, pseudo-eco-friendly body, bath and cooking shop.
Once your name is called, you meet your "safari leader" behind the grinning elephant, and he/she takes you up past howling apes and other Showbiz Pizza-like jungle monsters to your seat. Every so often, they simulate a thunderstorm by flickering the lights, running an audio tape and shaking the mechanized trees.
To its credit, service is prompt once you're seated, and the portions are oversized and moderately priced. Amazon flatbread (pizza), which is listed as an appetizer, is a meal in itself.
