This is where it all started. With sisters
Rosebud on Rush and
Carmine's all grown up and doing fine, thank you, when it comes to the original Rosebud restaurant, well, maybe it's not as chic as it once was? Perchance, the oldest sister has gone and lost her looks, so to speak?
Yeah, right. This powerhouse defined big league Italian in Chicago, which even Melman tried to ape with his Maggiano's chain, and it's still setting the standard. The restaurant's decor has been updated (for those of you who haven't been here in the last few years) and the food... well, some things, thankfully, never change.
And it's not just the pastas that are good and bountiful: the chicken vesuvio is "Mmmm," the salmon vesuvio is "Damn, that's good," and the red snapper vesuvio is unprintably delicious.
Not that its vesuvio or bust, though! Talk to your server about what you're in the mood for, be it chicken, steak, or pasta or seafood or some combination of pasta and seafood, negotiate the sauce, then sit back and indulge. Appetizers and desserts are staple items like chopped salad, calamari, spumoni and tiramisu.
