The name of this spot translates from Polish as "Delicious. Yes." That's pretty accurate. While most polish spots in town serve up reheated dumplings, frozen goodies and heavy cream- and salt-laden stuff, Smak Tak is focused on putting out fresh, well-seasoned and balanced Polish fare.
The pierogies, which come steamed and doused in golden butter or crispy fried, have won local smackdowns; the rich mushroom soup warms the soul during frigid winters; and the shish kebab features more juicy pork than a Washington legislative session.
All of these goodies are served in a small storefront outfitted like a wooden A-frame Swiss ski chalet with golden knotty pine timbers, a brick hearth fireplace and farm-style wooden slatted chairs, where the Polish-language channel flickers in the background.
