The Ninja Turtles would've loved this place. It's green, it's grungy and it has the best thin-crust pizza on the North Side.
Tomato Head may have the same fresh toppings and melty cheese as any other pizza place, but it also has this: juicy tomato sauce and to-die-for crust. Crisp and flavorful, its crust is hardly the chewy cardboard stuff you've settled for at 2 a.m.
Get this joint on your radar because you'll never know the next time you need a quick fix in Lincoln Park. For a finger-lickin' time, drop by with friends and share a large $15.95 BBQ chicken pizza. If you dare, try the large $17.45 "firebreather" with sausage, pepperoni and hot peppers.
If you're on your own, pull out a fiver and order a mini-pizza, or get a square meal with a sandwich-fries-drink-slaw lunch special, priced at around $6. While you're eating, admire the weird '50s pinups and the large ketchup bottles conspicuously present on every table. There's really something for everyone: salads, sandwiches (included a much-praised meatball), pastas, burgers, kids meals and even a cheeseless pizza for the lactose intolerant.
Tomato Head is simple: consistently scrumptious pizza. And yes, dude, it delivers.
Average cost: $10-$20
