As much as the high school classroom-esque florescent light fixtures kill the appetite, this 100 percent Zabiha Halal kabob-ery holds its own amidst
Devon Avenue contemporaries with lean, bountiful portions of the signature skewered chicken, beef and lamb treats, slung with a mammoth bed of rice, choice of three different stews and two forearm-sized loafs of bread for under $9, easily capable of filling two stomachs.
The rest of the menu fits comfortably under the Middle Eastern umbrella, dealing in Western popularized dishes like falafel, shawarma and hummus, to the more regionally contained kibbeh (stuffed, torpedo-shaped meat pocket) and downright adventurous pacha (whole-boiled sheep’s head) options. And of course that includes the token side order of French fries.
And even though team Uncle keep it quick and clean at diner-cheap prices (nothing caps $12), those house lights, function better at highlighting its take-out and delivery assets.
Average cost: <$10
