Zaleski and Horvath is what would happen if Rick Moranis used the laser from
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and miniaturized the Gold Coast luxury food emporium
Fox and Obel and dropped it into a storefront in
Hyde Park.
Though the selection isn't quite as extensive at F and O, the market selection at Z and H is an impressive grouping of fresh deli meats, exotic oils and chi chi vinegars stacked on gleaming stainless steel metro shelves. The cheese selection alone here, which features an incredible assortment of stinky blues and aged creamy goudas, might be one of the best in the entire Chicago area.
In addition to crusty bread wrapped grilled panini, daily soups (creamy curried sweet potato is soul stirring) and the usual deli fare, there are also thick chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that are as good as mom's, and killer coffee brewed in a $10,000 ultra high-tech Clover machine to fuel the customer base of Hyde Park intellectuals and the professorial set.
