City Soles provides a lower-priced alternative to chi-chi sister store Niche. Funky, charmingly mismatched decor includes a teal wraparound sofa, plush leather benches and bright red gumball machines that vend dice in lieu of candy. While shopping City Soles, do your part to support local talent: Paintings by Chi-town artists line the green and yellow walls and are available for purchase.
But, unsurprisingly, shoes are the focus here. As for your fashion fix, expect style upon style of footwear that will set you back anywhere from $100-$300. Super-girly pink pumps rub soles with flower-embroidered Camper boots and fur-lined ballet slippers. Other selections include prim round-toe pumps from Biviel and hip leather sneakers by J. Shoes. Men can choose from an array of kicks including gold high-top Converse sneakers and badass motorcycle boots from Bed Stu. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, if not a wee bit pushy. But hey, at least you know they're on foot, er, hand to help.
