For this year’s benefit show, the WCE’s clubhouse will be transformed into a scene from the movie “Fame” as approximately 200 volunteers work in front of and behind the curtain to create the theatrical production. The benefit show consists of 31 humorous song parodies on a variety of topics ranging from wizards and pigs, to bed bugs and cave dwellers. The benefit show is written, directed, choreographed, and performed by WCE members and friends. Approximately 1,800 people come to see the WCE’s benefit show each year. Proceeds from this year’s production will go to fund the Expressive Therapy Program at Children’s Home + Aid’s Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Child + Family Center, which provides Art Therapy to boys and girls ages 6 to 14 who are struggling with severe emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues as a result of traumatic childhood experiences, such as abuse and neglect.
