The nonprofit theater organization was founded in 1979 with a dedication to cultural enrichment through original works. It began in the late seventies as a playwright's collective located in a dance studio, moved to the Organic Theater center in 1981 and finally to its own home on Chicago Avenue (which seats about 75). It remains a devlopment center for new plays by Chicago playwrights. In 2002 alone, plays developed here were performed and awarded over 200 times. Over 500 writers participate in the workshop's programs yearly. Check out their web site www.chicagodramatists.org
Past productions have included John Green's The Liquid Moon, Jenny Laird's Ballad Hunter and Brett Neveu's Drawing War.
