| Joliet native recently debuted a play, Ghosts in the Cottonwoods with the Rivendell Theatre Ensemble. The author, who lives with his brother Anthony Rapp (of Rent fame) in New York, has been acclaimed for his novels Missing the Piano (named a 1995 Best Book by the American Library Association) and The Buffalo Tree (nominated for a National Book Award, and chosen a 1997 Best Book by the School Library Journal). Rapp was the inaugural writer in the Steppenwolf's 1995-96 New Plays Lab.
