Babes With Blades, founded by Dawn “Sam” Alden in 1997, gives women in Chicago an opportunity to celebrate their training and talent in stage combat.
Over the years, The Babes have performed one showcase, five full shows, a live chess match, and countless outreach programs, as well as hosting stage combat workshops.
In addition, The Babes proudly sponsor quarterly workshops on violence prevention, designed to teach attendees simple, practical techniques to help them confront, disarm, and escape an attacker.
Currently, The Babes regularly appear at Vaudeville Underground, a monthly variety show, located at the corner of Altgeld and Talman in Logan Square.
