| Founded in March 1991, this 12-member not-for-profit theatre ensemble has performed for over 100,000 people, parodying great literature, film and television. New City chose them as "Best Improv Troupe" in their September 1997 "Best of Chicago" edition. The company is known for its long-running audience-based improvised spoofs in styles from great literature. Titles range from medical dramas (B.S.) to Tennessee Williams (Cast on a Hot Tin Roof: A Dysfunctional Dixie Christmas), Shakespeare (As We Like It: Shakespeare in Your Face), detective novels (Pick-a-Dick), gothic romances (Blithering Heights) and Irish drama (Chancing at Lunacy), and their hit spoof of The Lord of the Rings trilogy Frodo-A-Go-Go. Most of their performances are at the Royal George Theatre Center, though there are itinerant. They also offer classes in improvisation. Current Artistic Directors Adrienne Smith and Robyn Okrant are guiding the company towards producing more cutting edge, original works, including a political parody Whose West Wing is it Anyway?.
