| Born in Packard, Kentucky on January 20, 1926, Patricia Neal attended Northwestern University's School of Speech from 1943-1945 before moving to New York City to fulfill a lifelong dream of being an actress. After winning several awards in her first Broadway show (Another Part of the Forest), she continued there with other productions like The Miracle Worker.
She acted in 24 feature films, including The Fountainhead (her first, in 1948), Hud (for which she won an Academy Award in 1963), The Subject Was Roses (for which she was nominated for an Oscar), and An Unremarkable Life (1989).
