| The Screenwriters Group has been in existence for five years and its founder and general manager, Dan Decker is dedicated to supporting and mentoring local writers with their aspirations to master the craft of screenwriting. The Group promotes a no-frills approach to screenwriting - the journey is a long and intensive process that cannot be squeezed into one crash-course weekend or even over six weeks. The Screenwriters Group emphasizes character as the drive of all story, regardless of a script's genre. The Group offers a hierarchy of classes, starting first with the First Draft Class that introduces all writers, veteran or virgin, to the philosophies and tools of great scriptwriting. This place is an up and coming force in Chicago's film community with its in-house production company, Argyle Pictures, and writer's representation agency, Stylus Management. It is worthy to note that Dan Decker is also the founder of the Chicago Center for Film Development which currently also houses IFP/Midwest.
