| Friedkin met with much success during the early '70's, winning Oscars for his work on both The French Connection and The Exorcist. Since then though, his work has suffered from a combination of poor choices and second rate stars. Rules of Engagement, one of the best courtroom dramas of 2000, marked Friedkin's first true return to the land of studio blockbusters in nearly 25 years. Friedkin is currently married to Paramount boss Sherry Lansing. Rules of Engagement was released by Paramount, but this film would have been made regardless of where Friedkin's wife worked. Really.
