Suburban born and bred, Robert Duffer left at 18, spent some time downstate (college, not jail), out West and some places in between before nesting on Chicago's North Side.
Duffer teaches part-time at Columbia College Chicago, bartends part-time and writes. Currently shopping around his first novel, A Place to Call Home, Duffer's work has appeared in Flashquake, Pindeldyboz, the2ndhand.com, and others.
He is a contributing reviewer for New Pages, was a staff writer for The Tap, and had other freelance pieces published in print, online and for NPR's morning show, 848. Every first Wednesday of every month he can be found at RUI: Reading Under the Influence, a reading and drinking series he co-founded and co-hosts. Duffer's proudest accomplishment, however, is his son, Calvin, who is currently learning to stick his foot in his mouth. This is a skill Dad should learn.
