Probably a southsider for life, Myrna toyed with the idea of becoming a journalism major during her early college years. After many changes, she finally settled on Psychology and got her Bachelors from Roosevelt University. What does Psychology have to do with music? Nothing, but it doesn't stop Myrna from loving music, especially music from Chicago. Having been a big fan since birth, her peak interest in music occured in the 90s with the rise in bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Veruca Salt, Hole, Liz Phair, Juliana Hatfield, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, among others. 1994 is probably considered the "year of great music" in this staffer's opinion, even if she was only 14 years old at the time.
Favorite Chicago Bands? Smoking Popes, Caviar, Veruca Salt, Local H, Smashing Pumpkins, Filter, Chevelle, and Kanye West (SouthSide!)
Favorite Place To See A Show? Double Door, Schubas and Empty Bottle
Favorite Band In The Whole Wide World? Radiohead
Working for Centerstage gave Myrna an excuse to keep up to date on who's coming to town and when. Even though she lives on the southside and not in the city, it doesn't take much to get her out and about in the downtown area. Chicago is definitely the place to be for music, bars, and food.
