Show your body a little love at Ab-Sutra Studios. Here the focus lies not on the look of your exterior but on the health of your mind and body. Ab-Sutra instructs that an "ideal" body comes not through achieving physical perfection (although with enough work that could be a possibility) but through achieving physical and mental health. The focus of its yoga, personal training and tai chi classes, therefore, is on reaching and keeping a mind/body connection.
Classes: To keep all minds and bodies in tune, Ab-Sutra accommodates every skill level. Yoga beginners can twist into shape with the gentle/Hatha style, which introduces basic yoga breathing and alignment as well as basic techniques such as back and forward bending. The Vinyasa flow classes are geared toward Level I and Level II students and focus on advanced backbends, inversions and arm balances. Advanced students will find a challenge in the Mysore-Ashtanga classes. These classes are held six days a week, and can be purchased as a package (10 classes for $145; 25 classes for $325) or on a per-class basis for the commitment-phobic ($16).
Extras:If public classes make you uneasy, private yoga sessions and personal training are also available. Private yoga instruction will cost $75 an hour for one person and $125 an hour if you pair up. Personal training includes a personalized weight training regimen and supervision in order to effectively reach your goals; the cost varies.
If you have experienced decreased movement or mobility, tai chi for rehabilitation is a good method for recovery. This gentle form of exercise helps your body improve in balance and posture, strengthen bones and lower stress and blood pressure.
