Chiropractic care and yoga go hand in hand, so it's not surprising for chiropractors to recommend yoga classes for clients. However, it's a rarity to find a chiropractic office with a built-in yoga studio, as is the case at Butler Chiropractic in Lincoln Park.
Originally used for occasional classes, Dr. Rhonda Butler leased the space out to instructor Andrea Klunder and Infuse Yoga Spa was born. What at first seems like a very clinical office space (you walk into the chiropractic office and have to fill out forms and/or wait until the class starts, which can instantly give you that doctor's appointment feeling), turns into a warm, relaxing environment once you step back to the studio. Outside of the door, you'll find a small retail area with great smelling natural handmade soaps, teas and a few other small items.
The space only holds up to 10 students, but the energy in the small area bounces off the walls. Teachers are energetic, encouraging and hands on, meaning you'll always find the correct alignment in a pose and have less chance of injury. A great space for beginners, Infuse provides mats, straps, blocks, bolsters and all other necessary props.
Infuse also offers private yoga and Thai bodywork therapies (hence the spa part), including Thai massage and the more unique Luk Pra Cob Herbal compress and facial treatment, used to relieve sore muscles and decongest sinuses. But what’s really makes Infuse stand out is their great emphasis on building a community. They have fun, creative events like Yoga and Tea (a yoga class followed by sampling of some of their delicious custom teas), Yoga Spa Day (class followed by mini hand and foot scrub treatments) and keep a regularly updated blog.
If you're curious about yoga or looking for an inspiring place to practice, Infuse is highly recommended. Just be sure to check their website for any special events, class times or offers before you head there, you may just be surprised by what you find.
